Cole Fitzgerald, A Young Dedicated Sports Coach and Advocacy has died after battling Cancer

Who was Cole Fitzgerald?

Born into a sports-loving family, Cole Fitzgerald was a shining light both on and off the field. A graduate with honors from Washington Township High School in 2022, he dedicated much of his life to the sport he loved – football. He was known for his resilience, his infectious smile, and his ability to inspire those around him.

About Cole Fitzgerald Career

Cole started his career in football as a coaching assistant at Washington Township High School (WTHS) while still studying there. For four years, he served as a student assistant coach for Washington Township Youth Football. His commitment and dedication led to the institution of the Cole Fitzgerald Most Inspirational Player Award, given annually at both youth football and high school levels.In June 2022, shortly after graduating, Cole joined the Temple Owls Equipment Staff as a freshman. He held this position until August when he was diagnosed with metastatic pancreatoblastoma. Despite the diagnosis, Cole maintained his academic pursuits at Temple, achieving an impressive 3.5 GPA while undergoing treatment.

Advocacy for Childhood Cancer Research

Since the age of six, Cole and his family have been proud Student Leader Ambassadors for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to funding research into new treatments and cures for children battling cancer. For the past nine years, Cole and his family participated in the CBS3 Alex’s Lemonade Telethon, sharing their personal journey and encouraging others to donate to this noble cause.

Cole’s battle with cancer was a testament to his fighting spirit. In August 2022, he was diagnosed with metastatic pancreatoblastoma, a rare type of cancer that primarily affects children. Despite receiving treatment, Cole lost his fight on December 15, 2023.
