Corey Mumford was a senior year student at Laurel High School. The 6 foot 6 inches tall player played for the Varsity Basketball team donning the #24 jersey. He was set to graduate with the Class of 2023 later this year.

Corey started playing basketball for the school’s team when he joined the institution in the 2019-20 session. Ever since his junior year, he has been a key part of the team due to his incredible athleticism and ‘balling skills.

Mumford won the state Blue-Gold basketball game MVP award for leading the Gold team to a 155-151 win in an incredible thriller recently. He was planning to continue his basketball career at Dundalk Community College after graduation.

Corey Mumford Shot Dead in Laurel, Delaware: What Happened?

Laurel High School basketball star, Corey Mumford, was fatally shot on Friday, April 14, 2023, near an apartment complex. The tragic incident took place at around 2:40 PM near the 100 block of Sunset Drive in Wexford Village Apartments.

When the officers arrived at the crime scene, they found a teen suffering from multiple gunshot wounds lying behind one of the apartment buildings. The officers began CPR before the paramedics arrived and took the situation into their hands.

Mumford was rushed to the local medical center. Unfortunately, he was declared dead due to the gunshot wounds he received. An investigation is going on which has been taken over by the Delaware State Police at the request of the Laurel Police Department.
