On Monday, July 10, 2023, a scary shooting took place in the 6000 block of Plainfield Road at 11:40 PM. A 9-year-old girl named Damyih Pickens-Barton was killed at a Silverton residence in the shooting according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the reports of a shooting and found Damyih inside the home. She was wounded by a single gunshot wound and was rushed to Jewish Hospital. Unfortunately, she died due to the injuries sustained in the shooting.
Reports revealed that the front of the single-family home was penetrated with at least a dozen bullet holes. They completely damaged the front door while others impacted the front windows.
Who shot and killed Damyih Pickens-Barton?
The police have not shared any suspect information or vehicle description of a vehicle involved in the shooting that killed Damyih Pickens-Barton. An investigation is going on for the drive-by shooting which scared the neighborhood late Monday.
The incident took place at a fast stretch of Plainfield Road. There are several well-maintained homes with signs or markers warning drivers to slow down to protect children. Unfortunately, these couldn’t save the life of the young girl.

Damyih-Pickens Barton was a 9-year-old girl from Silverton. She was part of a single family who lived at their residence. She has been identified as the victim of the drive-by shooting that took place in the area this past Monday.

Neighbors Believe Silverton is Safe Despite the Incident .
Allie Parriman, a woman who lives across the street from where the shooting happened, gave an interview to the local news company. She believed that the neighborhood was safe despite the little girl losing her life.
“Nothing like this ever really happens here,” Parriman said. She also revealed that she woke up due to the shooting but her young daughter slept through it. “It’s heartbreaking. Especially as a mom,” she added.
This is the third drive-by shooting in recent memory. Before this, Shaman Mingo was killed in a Downtown shooting on Wednesday while Isis Roseman died in a similar shooting in Winton Hills on Thursday.
