Today, we celebrate the life and mourn the loss of an extraordinary woman, Dr. Donna Rockwell Smilovitz, who passed away on October 7, 2023, at the age of 66.
Dr. Rockwell, a resident of Franklin, Michigan, was not just known for her professional accolades as a renowned humanistic psychologist, but also for her roles as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was a beacon of light in both her professional and personal journeys, touching numerous lives with her brilliance.
A Life Dedicated to Mindfulness and Wellness
Dr. Rockwell was a fierce advocate for mindfulness and wellness. As a clinical psychologist, she worked tirelessly to promote mental health awareness, especially among celebrities and those in the public eye. Her work in the field of psychology spanned several decades, during which she established herself as a respected authority on mindfulness meditation.
She served as President of Division 32 from 2017 to 2018, contributing significantly to the growth and development of the organization. Her influence extended far beyond her tenure, as she continued to mentor, inspire, and encourage the entire humanistic community. The legacy she leaves behind is a testament to her dedication and passion for her work.
A Pillar of Strength and Love
Beyond her professional life, Dr. Rockwell was deeply cherished by her family. She was the beloved wife of Bernie Smilovitz for 38 years, and the loving mother of Zachary (Alysha Glenn) Smilovitz and Jacob (Laura Flusty) Smilovitz. She was adored by her grandchildren, Eloise, Sebastian, and Isabel Smilovitz, and was a dear sister to Joshua (Clare) Rockwell and Leah Rockwell. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
