What Happened to Easton Thom? The cause of death explained
As per the reports of The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Easton Thom, an 11-year-old boy, from Berlin, died while deer hunting on Sunday morning. DNR says, a 41-year-old man in Seneca was attempting to empty his firearm while the weapon was in the backseat of a vehicle when it fired.
The sixth-grade boy was struck in the chest. As soon as he was rushed to the nearest hospital where he died from the lethal injuries. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources passed a statement, both, Thom and the 41-year-old man were part of the same hunting party. This tragic accident occurred on the second day of gun deer season in Wisconsin, United States.
Dr. Emmett Durtschi, Superintendent of Berlin Area School Districtdeclares the following statement on Monday on Easton Thom’s demise.
“The Berlin Area School District is devastated by the sudden passing of the student, Easton Thom from the Berlin Middle School in a hunting accident on Sunday. Our prayers and thoughts go out to the Thom family and friends, school staff, and the entire Berlin community”.
She also mentioned, “We service staff in partnership with outside counseling agencies and will provide additional support to our students and staff this week. Easton’s family has requested privacy and we will respect their wishes and make sure that nobody disturbs them”.
Tributes for Easton Thom
Tributes have come out in huge amounts for him across social media networks. Everyone started multiple fundraiser programs to help his family in this tough time.
A small tribute is scheduled for Easton Thom at 6 p.m. on November 25th, Friday at Riverside Park in Berlin. They request attendees to wear blaze orange in support of the Thom family. A Facebook event “Love for Easton” was created by Kathleen Nechkash and Tara Schubert in remembrance of Thom.

A news network NBC tweeted, “Community members have organized a candlelight vigil for Easton Thom and various fundraisers have been set up to help and support his family.”
