What Happened to Brandon McCurdy?

Brandon McCurdy, a 26-year-old, of Hannibal, was driving a Polaris Ranger on Friday night when he drove over a deer on the road at 4:45 p.m.and was moving west on Vermont Lanein Ralls County, about two miles southeast of Perry, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The collision sent McCurdy’s UTV off the road, into a ditch, where it crashed and McCurdy was injured.

In the collision, McCurdy was tossed from the car. According to MSHP, Ralls County Deputy Coroner Austin Simmons declared the driver deceased at the scene at 6:25 p.m. The Perry Fire Department, the Ralls County Ambulance, and the Ralls County Sheriff’s Office all provided assistance to the Highway Patrol at the incident.

The accident is still under investigation, but it is believed that McCurdy may have lost control of his vehicle due to the collision with deer. Police are also looking into the possibility that McCurdy may have been distracted at the time of the crash.
