Expressing grief over Dean Daughtry’s death, his friend, Shawn Nagy’s Super Oldies, shared a Facebook post on her account. He wrote, “R.I.P. Dean Daughtry
Although Dean is most recognized for his iconic keyboard stylings with the Atlanta Rhythm Section, I had first been in touch with him in the ’90s to discuss his late ’60s work with Roy Orbison’s backing group “The Candymen” and Dennis Yosts’ “Classics IV”. He was behind many memorable keyboard parts in charting hits over multiple decades.
I finally got to meet Dean along with lead vocalist Rodney Justo in 2013, and enjoyed listening to the great stories these two had. Super Oldies pays tribute to a man who spent a lifetime in music…thank you Dean!”
