Marty and I were so very sad to learn about the passing of our friend John Fay. Marty and John worked together many years, while John was the beat writer covering the Reds. I had the pleasure of knowing John and then his wife Laura Fay when she would join us in spring training or show up to a road game. They were absolutely made for each other. John the quiet, laid back fella to Laura’s life of party, up for anything kind of gal. We take real comfort in knowing how happy they are to be reunited…but we sure miss them down here. This picture was just 4 years ago at Marty’s retirement party and the pic of Laura with us at the Seattle game was only 5 years ago. Time can change so quickly.
My heart is broken over this loss. John was the best uncle a girl could ask for. He was so good to Eli. This article is a perfect tribute to him. The only solace is that he’s in eternal peace with Laura and the rest of the family, including my dad, who went before him. I miss him terribly already. 💔 John Fay

I interacted with John on several occasions and while he could be sarcastic (a trait we shared) he always responded and we had some nice exchanges. RIP John
