Tate Makgoe, whose real name was Pule Herbert Isak Makgoe, was a 59-year-old South African politician who was a member of the African National Congress. He was born on May 12, 1963, in Tumahole, Parys, Free State province, and was elected to the Free State Provincial Legislature as a member of the Free State Provincial Legislature in May 1994.
Tate served in different positions on the Executive Council, and his positions included being the MEC for Finance twice (1994–1996 and 2005–2009). He was the MEC for Tourism and Environmental Affairs from 1997 to 1999, the MEC for Agriculture from 1999 to 2001, the MEC for Public Safety, Security, and Liaison from 2004 to 2005, and the legislature’s chair of chairs between 2001 and 2004.
Makgoe was named Education MEC in May 2009 by Magashule, and he retained Tate again on this post in May 2014.
