Meryl Transport, Cherished Camp Taconic Owner, Has Passed Away

It is With deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of Meryl Transport, the former owner of Camp Taconic and an integral part of the Crestwood family. Known for her warmth, dedication, and infectious personality, Meryl’s sudden departure has left many hearts heavy.

Who Was Meryl Transport?

Meryl Transport was not just the wife of Crestwood’s owner and director, Mark Transport, but also a beloved figure in her own right. Before joining the Crestwood family in 2011, Meryl was a cherished owner at Camp Taconic where she was recognized as a friend to all, a generous giver of hugs, and a memorable trip leader for Teens in California.

At Crestwood, Meryl was a welcome addition to the family. Her vibrant personality, love for laughter, and ability to make others laugh made her an instant favorite among the staff. She was a team player, always ready to lend a hand, whether in the classroom or the pool at camp.

Meryl’s love for her husband Mark, their daughter Jillian, and their Golden Doodle Lola was immense. Her absence will be deeply felt, and our heartfelt condolences go out to her family and friends.

Meryl Transport’s Funeral Arrangements

In honor of Meryl Transport’s life, a funeral service will be held tomorrow, October 5th, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Gutterman’s in Woodbury]. Shiva will follow immediately after the funeral until 9 PM on Thursday at the Transport home. Shiva will continue on Friday from 12-6 PM; Saturday from 7-9:30 PM; and Sunday from 12-5 PM at 6 Winter Lane, Dix Hills, NY 11746.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Meryl’s memory can be made to SCOPE, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing children in need the edge in life through the summer camp experience

The loss of Meryl Transport is a significant one for the communities of Camp Taconic and Crestwood. Her legacy of joy, warmth, and dedication will continue to resonate in the hearts of those she touched. May her soul rest in peace.
