I’ve heard that one of the greatest brass teachers and players (the world over) has finished his race. What a lovely, humble, talented, thoughtful, and caring man. I studied with Tommy Johnson back on the nineties, and barely a lesson went by when he didn’t mention Roger. I got to know a little bit in more recent times, and he was so supportive, despite where he was in his worldwide travels. He leaves a legacy of tuba players and musicians who are better people for having known him. A true gentleman.
