The city of Orlando, Florida is mourning the loss of local mother and social media personality Ruby K’ior, who was tragically killed in a shooting incident on Friday afternoon. K’ior, a mother of two young children, sustained fatal gunshot wounds during an altercation at The Palms Hotel and Villas in West Orlando. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of a shooting around 3pm on Friday outside of The Palms on Orange Blossom Trail. When they arrived, they found K’ior deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.
Witnesses describe a chaotic scene, with a group of young adults engaged in a physical altercation prior to the gunfire. Bystanders attempted to intervene and de-escalate the situation before a lone gunman opened fire, causing the crowd to flee for safety. K’ior was struck multiple times amidst the bullets.
Authorities have launched a homicide investigation but have not yet released details about potential suspects involved. The shooter remains at large.
Known locally for her Instagram account “K’ior Kollection”, the 31-year-old K’ior was beloved for her bold, vivacious personality and sense of humor. As word spread of her murder, fans and friends reacted with shock, flooding her social media pages with condolences and memories.
“I cannot believe such a vibrant soul was taken from us so violently,” wrote one grieving follower on Instagram. “You spread so much light. This is absolutely heartbreaking.”
