She let people get to know her and knew people in return. I’ve always been touched with the way she shared her mind and heart. In our friendship and working together, I never had to guess at what Shari was thinking or feeling. She told me. And the way she opened her joys and struggles over the last couple of years has impacted thousands.
Shari knew people- as THEY were. She took the time to observe and listen and care for the WHOLE person. Sometimes, I felt like the way that she felt others’ pain was too much… like it hurt her too much. It was hard to watch such a light dimmed by suffering. She was true to her convictions, including to support the downtrodden, the marginalized, those in pain.
Oh my goodness, Shari is fierce. That fierceness sometimes amazed me, often made my laugh, and always inspired. She loves fiercely and is loved so much in return. That love still exists. It will always be there, making us better and truer.
