Setting the scene: the year was 1996, I got partnered with my friend Steven Klug to play Romeo and Juliet for our 9th grade English honors class. Steve and I were pretty proud of how nerdy we were in comparison to our classmates. Our teacher, who most definitely had the beginning stages of dementia, gave us free reign to “change the words so your classmates understand the play”. Game on! Steve and I rewrote Shakespeare’s iconic play into a 1990’s Rap battle (think epic east coast vs west coast style). It was amazing! Steve-you will forever be my rap god Romeo! Thank you for all the amazing memories! You will be missed more than you could ever know. An apt quote, “Parting is such sweet sorrow that I shall say goodnight till it be morrow”. RIP buddy♥️😢.
