This hurts so bad. When Cole decided on Purdue, Travis Ely reached out to him to partner up with him during their college bass fishing career. They immediately liked each other and had a connection while in the boat. In their short time together, Travis became a Big Brother to Cole, checking in with him about school and when they would hit the water again. Travis’ smile was contagious and his friendship was true. I, too, am so proud to also call him my friend. My heart goes out to his family, friends, & Purdue Bass Fishing Club.

It’s with an Incredibly heavy heart I share this. Travis Ely was an athlete, a friend, a brother, and a son to two of the most amazing parents I’ve ever met. I was just talking to him less than 24 hours ago, and there are a million different things I wish I would’ve said. If I had to sum it all up, I would say thank you for being an amazing friend for over 10 years, thank you for all the things we’ve been though and you have helped me though. I love you brother and I’m proud of all the things you’ve accomplished. Rest easy Trav.

As we mourn their tragic passing, we extend our deepest condolences to their families, friends, and loved ones. May their memories continue to inspire the Purdue University community and all who knew them.
