In a disturbing incident that has left the community of Thornhill, Ontario reeling, 37-year-old Zoya Berelovich has been charged with first-degree murder following the death of an infant.
The tragic event occurred on a Thursday evening. Emergency personnel were called to a residence on Wade Gate, near the intersection of Dufferin and Centre streets, in response to reports of an injured infant. York Regional Police officers arrived at the scene and found a non-responsive infant inside the residence.
Despite the best efforts of medical staff, the newborn was pronounced dead at the hospital.
